Obituary for Edwin S. Guest

NEW HOPE, PENNSYLVANIA - Edwin S. Guest of New Hope, PA passed away on Sunday, March 13, 2016 in the Lehigh Valley Hospital – Cedar Crest, Allentown, PA. He was 85.

Born in Pottstown, PA to the late Thomas Strickland and Irene (Latshaw) Guest, Ned resided in New Hope, PA since 1967.

He was formerly employed as a Natural Gas Technician with Texas Eastern of West Amwell, NJ for 40 years, retiring in 1992. Ned was a Naval Air Force Veteran of the Korean War; a member of Earl Knoster VFW Post 7921 of Lambertville, NJ; the American Legion Edgar H. Denson Post 79 of New Hope, PA; F & AM Mt. Pickering Lodge No. 446 of Exton, PA; and the Lahaska United Methodist Church, Lahaska, PA. He enjoyed fishing on the Delaware River and was an active member of the New Hope American Legion Post. Ned also was an avid Phillies and Eagles fan.

He was the beloved husband of 59 years to Jean (Andrew) Guest; devoted father of Lisa Sanderford of Silverdale, PA, Thomas Guest and wife Michelle of Hazleton, PA and Lori Guest Mitchell and husband Charles of Florida; also survived by four siblings, eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

A viewing will be held at the Varcoe-Thomas Funeral Home, 344 North Main Street, Doylestown, PA 18901 on Friday, March 18th from 4:30-6:00 pm with a service to begin at 6:00 pm.

Services will be held at the Coventryville United Methodist Church, 1521 Old Ridge Road, Pottstown, PA 19465 on Saturday, March 19th at 12 Noon. A viewing will be held from 10:30 am – 12 Noon prior to the service.

Interment will follow in Coventryville Cemetery, Coventryville, PA.
