Obituary for Maria Lauff

Mitzi Lauff of Huntingdon Valley, PA passed away at Abington Jefferson Hospice in Warminster after a sudden, brief illness. The long life of a remarkable woman will be celebrated at a later date when her family and friends can gather together joyfully. Details about that occasion will be forthcoming at the appropriate time.

Mitzi is survived by her three devoted children and their spouses, and by six grandchildren and their spouses, along with four great-grandchildren all of whom she doted upon; and also by a loving family that includes her American brother-in-law and his wife, as well as her younger sister and brother and his wife, and sister-in-law in Austria, and subsequent generations of many nieces and nephews, great and great-great nieces and nephews, both in the United States and in Austria who cherished their Tante Mitzi; and by three generations of cousins in Austria to whom she was “die Mitz”—her extended family network with whom there were decades of many happy visits with one another. Three years ago when Mitzi downsized to an independent living apartment at Gloria Dei Manor, she added a new circle of friendships to those she already had established over the years. She was an inspirational model of “to have a friend, one must be a friend” to all fortunate enough to be part of her life in two countries. Kindness, optimism, respect, and a zest for life were traits that characterized Mitzi Lauff.
A private internment will take place at George Washington Memorial Park where Mitzi will be laid to rest with her husband Julius who predeceased her in 1980.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a memorial gift to the Abington Health Foundation to support Hospice Care https://www.abingtonhealth.org/WaysOfGiving/ (mailing address: 1200 Old York Road, Abington 19001; phone 215-481-4438) or to a charity of your choice helping those in need due to the current Coronavirus pandemic.
