Obituary for Jay Hersh

Jay Hersh, 79, of Willow Grove, PA passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 16, 2020 surrounded by his loving family.

Born in Philadelphia, PA, he was the son of the late Jack and Mary (Davis) Hersh and brother of Stella Kardos. Jay resided in Willow Grove, PA for the past 54 years.

Jay was formerly employed at Drexel Industry and upon his retirement worked for Keystone Volvo and Thompson Lexus. He was a long time member of the Blue Comet Motorcycle Club. In his early years, Jay was a volunteer at the Horsham Fire Company and a member of the Philadelphia Scuba Diving Club. He enjoyed spending time with his family on camping trips, going to the beach and fishing. Jay will be fondly remembered by his friends and family for his fun sense of humor, keen eye for craftsmanship, travel adventures on his motorcycle, and his great love of music and food. He was always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need and generously shared his many skills and talents with others.

He was the beloved husband of 57 years to Cookie; loving father of Jacqueline (John), Lisa (Jeff) and David; and loving grandfather (aka: Poppy) to Evan.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 18, 2020 at Calvary Chapel of Philadelphia located at 13500 Philmont Ave. Philadelphia, PA 19116. Family and friends are invited to visit with the family from 12:00-12:30pm; the service will follow immediately afterwards.
