Obituary for John P. Harvey
John P. Harvey of Hatboro, PA passed away on Friday, June 21st, 2019 at the Abington Memorial Hospital, Abington, PA. He was 83.
Born in Philadelphia, PA, to the late Patrick Harvey and Eileen (Judge) Harvey. John resided in Hatboro.
He was a high school football team captain, class president, and a member of the National Honors Society at Neshaminy High School. He received ivy league and senatorial scholarships to college. He received degrees with distinction from Millersville and the University of Arizona. He returned to Neshaminy School District as an educator and Supervisor of Social Studies for 35 years, retiring in 1993.
John was the former President of the Rotary Club in Langhorne, member of the Silver Creek and Spring Mill Country Clubs and he also enjoyed golfing.
He was the beloved husband of 60 years to Sarah J. Harvey; devoted father of John C. Harvey and wife Meg, and Brian Harvey and wife Kathy; treasured brother to Jim Wilson and wife Nancy; dear brother of the late Charles Harvey, Arlene Cucchi, and Bill Wilson; caring brother-in-law to Donald Cucchi; loving grandfather of Helen (Griffin) and Jonathan, Isobel Harvey, Gwen Harvey, Katie Enterline, Sarah Harvey and Annabelle Harvey.
The family will receive friends at the Varcoe-Thomas Funeral Home, 344 North Main Street, Doylestown, PA on Saturday, June 29th, 2019 from 11:00 am to 12:00 noon, with a memorial service to follow at 12:00 noon.
Private graveside ceremony will follow.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Upper Moreland Police Benevolent Association would be appreciated.
