Obituary for Virginia "Ginny" Cooper

Ginny Cooper residing in Doylestown, born as Alice Virginia Moore in 1918, passed away Tuesday, April 2, 2019. She was 100.

Her leadership qualities became apparent when her employer transferred her to Doylestown to help manage a hosiery mill. In town, she meant Dick Cooper and married during WWII. They resided on the family farm in Pineville and raised three children. She served on the Wrightstown School Board and later worked for the postal service in Lahaska. She was among the first women in Bucks County to serve as Postmistress and was appointed to the Penns Park Post Office in 1969, serving until her retirement in 1982. She volunteered numerous hours at the Doylestown Hospital, remained an active member of Questers. She was an outstanding member of the Soroptimist Club of Indian Rock, having been one of its founding members, and so honored in many ways by its’ Sisters.

She was the devoted wife of the late Richard T. Cooper; mother of Marsha Cooper and John Richard Cooper, and the late Ginny Kunz; sister of the late Floyd Moore; loving grandmother of Kelye, Corey, Michael, and Marlee; she is survived by six great-grandchildren.

Services will be private under the direction of the Varcoe-Thomas Funeral Home, 344 North Main Street, Doylestown, PA 18901.
