Obituary for James E. Hamilton

James E. Hamilton of Newtown, PA passed away on Monday, March 18, 2019 in Harborview Rehabilitation & Nursing Center, Doylestown, PA. He was 86.

Born in Doylestown, PA to the late Harry and Lillian (Clark) Hamilton, James resided in Newtown since 2005.

He was formerly employed as a maintenance employee with County of Bucks Parks & Recreation, retiring in 1999. James also worked as a machinist with Standard Press Steel, was Employee of the Year 1990 at Neshaminy Manor, and helped remodel the Moravian Tile Works. He was a US Army Veteran of the Korean War where he served as a medic and received three service medals of honor; member of Doylestown VFW Post 175; and enjoyed woodworking and telling jokes.

He was the beloved husband of the late Jacqueline (Stout) Hamilton and former husband of Dorothy Cherrier; devoted father of Deborah, Susan, Jeffrey and the late James Hamilton, Jr. and Cheryl Hamilton; dear brother of Paul Hamilton, Dee Ciocca, Joan Davis, Richard Hamilton, David Hamilton, Carl Hamilton, Henry Hamilton and the late Kay Hamilton, Elwood Hamilton, Elaine Landers and Janet Hamilton; loving grandfather of Timothy Buck, Lisa and Heather Hamilton; step-father of Peaches (Pfeiffer) Effrig and Joan Effrig; step-grandfather of Stanley Effrig, Jr.; also survived by many nieces, nephews, grand nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are invited to James’ committal service with military honors at Washington Crossing National Cemetery, 830 Highland Road, Newtown, PA 18940 on Monday, March 25, 2019 promptly at 11:00 am. Please arrive by 10:30 am at the cemetery.
