Obituary for Oliver P. Suozzo

Oliver P. Suozzo, MSgt USAF (Ret) of Doylestown, PA passed away at his residence surrounded by his family on Sunday, November 12, 2017. He was 85.

Born in Stockton, NJ to the late John and Minnie (Welsh) Suozzo, he was one of 9 children.

Oliver served 23 years in the United States Air Force, last employed as Superintendent of Propulsion Branch at McClellan Air Force Base in California, before moving to Doylestown in 1977. Stateside, he was also stationed in Texas, Oklahoma, Delaware and Florida. He was a Veteran of the Vietnam War; received the Air Force Commendation Medal and Presidential Unit Citation. His career took him around the world including Saudi Arabia, Africa and Adak, Alaska. As a civilian, he worked for Asplundh Tree Company and the U.S. Post Office.

Oliver was a member of American Legion Post 210 and Life Member of the DAV Chapter #17, both of Doylestown. He enjoyed fishing, gardening and travelling to Canada, where he rode the Polar Bear Express. Oliver was also a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Church of Buckingham, PA.

He was the beloved husband of 61 years to Dorothea (Haller) Suozzo; devoted father of Gale Strohl of Pt. Pleasant, PA, Richard Suozzo and Michael Suozzo both of Doylestown, PA; loving grandfather of Amanda Marie Strohl; dear brother of Rosemarie Elcavage and husband Alexander, Maryann Albite and husband Joseph; also survived by many nieces, nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews.

A viewing will be held at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church, 5175 Cold Spring Creamery Road, Doylestown, PA 18902 on Monday, November 20th from 10:45-11:45 am, followed by a mass at 11:45 am.

Interment with military honors will follow in Washington Crossing National Cemetery, 830 Highland Road, Newtown, PA 18940 at 1:30 pm.
